ABOUT THE
LEARN TO RUN PROGRAM

A ten week program that enables participants to learn through experience, through workshops, and presentations.

Modeled after the highly successful “Running Group Therapy Program” developed by Credit Valley Hospital in Mississauga, Ontario Canada

Designed for any person ages 10+ (youth individually or youth w/ an adult)

We are a program designed to support mood and increase physical activity within our community.
We all have our experiences in life which try to break us and our responses to these moments shape us as people.
We might break but we will not be broken and will be stronger and wiser for it.

How to take a goal, break it down, and achieve through small steps

Increased self awareness through use of your running log

Learning skills in developing mental toughness, the ability to keep going and stay positive and focused when faced with challenges

Learn from your mistakes; Lessons/opportunities for new learning not to over react.

Learn from others – from their mistakes

Learn to run softly and silently ( no drama)

Learn how to talk and breathe as they run

Developing positive cognitive skills; Positive thinking, focus, etc

How to look at challenges and obstacles as good teachers and skill builders

Learn to pace yourself- when to hold back and when to push in order to complete a run well

That action in the face of adversity is much better than standing still or retreating- run towards your fears not away from them
